Sports Coaching Awards & Short Courses 2012/13

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE SPORTS COACHING AWARDS ARE COMPLETE FOR 2012/13.  NEW COURSES FOR 2013/14 ARE DUE TO BE RELEASED SHORTLY

 

Thank you for your interest in Canterbury Christ Church University's range of coaching awards and short courses on offer in 2012/13.

001 - Teaching Primary Athletics (1 day)
This course is for qualified and trainee teachers and those supporting the management and delivery of high quality sport and physical education in primary schools. Saturday 19/01/2013 10am-4pm

002 - Teaching Secondary Athletics (1 day)
This course is for qualified and trainee teachers and those supporting the management and delivery of high quality sport and physical education in secondary schools. Sunday 20/01/2013 10am-4pm

003 - Bisi Badminton Teachers - Secondary (1 day)
This course will provide participants with the basics of teaching badminton, including an introduction to the different strokes and how to develop them, scoring and the rules, as well as lots of ideas for activities and games that can be set up with pupils in PE lessons and after school clubs. Sunday 03/03/2013 10am-2pm

004 - Primary Cricket - Coaching for Teachers (1 day)
This course will enable trainee teachers to assist and support a coach delivering cricket both in curriculum time and during out of school hours. Sunday 21/10/2012 9am-1pm

005 - Secondary Cricket - Coaching for Teachers (1 Day)
This course will enable trainee teachers to assist and support a coach delivering cricket both in curriculum time and during out of school hours. Sunday 21/10/2012 2pm-6pm

006 - Teaching Primary Dance - February (1 day)
This one day practical course is for anyone wishing to develop their knowledge and skills in the teaching and learning of primary dance (no previous experience is required). Saturday 09/02/2013 10am-4pm

007 - Teaching Primary Dance - April (1 day)
This one day practical course is for anyone wishing to develop their knowledge and skills in the teaching and learning of primary dance (no previous experience is required) Saturday 27/04/2013 10am-4pm

008 - Secondary Dance Course (1 day)
This one day practical course is for anyone wishing to develop their knowledge and skills in the teaching and learning of secondary dance (no previous experience is required) Saturday 04/05/2013 10am-4pm

009 - Football level one Club Coach (4 day)
This course provides and introduction to the organisation and delivery of safe and enjoyable coaching sessions for players.  The course will introduce practical drills to develop players' technical skills such as shooting, turning with the ball and heading.  It is ideally suited to those working with groups of your players.  Saturday 13/10/2012, Sunday 14/10/2012, Saturday 27/10/2012 and Sunday 28/10/2012 9am-5pm

010 - Beginners Guide to Futsal Course (1 day)
This course is for individuals wishing to understand more about techniques required for coaching futsal. Saturday 26/01/2013 10am-4pm

011 - Football Working with teams (1 day)
This course provides practical ideas on how to run football teams including work around team talks, team philosophy, the FA Long Term Player Development model and understanding basic strategies, tactics and formations. Saturday 16/02/2013 10am-4pm

012 - Coaching Disabled Football (1 day)
This course is designed to give football coaches and teacher's ideas and practices for the inclusion of disabled players in football sessions whether in mainstream or impairment sessions.  Saturday 16/03/2013 10am-4pm

013 - British Gymnastics Teachers Intermediate Primary (2 days)
This course is for teachers, trainee teachers and teaching assistants who wish to improve their gymnastics knowledge or establish an extra curricular gymnastics club (gymnastic ability is not required)Saturday 02/03/2013 and Saturday 09/03/2013 9.30am-4.30pm

014 - British Sports Gymnastics Teachers Intermediate Secondary (2 days)
This course will build on the skills and knowledge learnt on the British Gymnastics Teachers Intermediate Primary Course. Saturday 16/03/2013 and Saturday 23/03/2013 9.30am-4.30pm

015 - Hockey Level Two (5 days)
The UKCC Level 2 qualifications is for those who wish to coach the techniques of the game beyond an introductory level and apply them to tactical play and the coaching of teams.  It is only suitable for those with experience of coaching hockey.  A prerequisite for this course is the England Hockey UKCC Level 1 Coach Award.  Monday 18/02/2013 to Friday 22/02/2013 9am-5pm

016 - All England Netball Association 7-11yrs combined - November (1 day)
This course is for teachers, parents and players who are introducing netball to children aged between 7 and 11 years (no playing or coaching experience is required) Sunday 25/11/2012 10am-4pm

017 - All England Netball Association 7-11yrs Combined - March (1 day)
This course is for teachers, parents and players who are introducing netball to children aged between 7 and 11 years (no playing or coaching experience is required) Sunday 17/03/2013 10am -4pm

018 - All England Netball Association 12-16yrs (1 day)
This course provides secondary school teachers with further support to develop their coaching skills and help improve team performance. Sunday 27/01/2013 10am-4pm

019 - Netball Level One (3 days)
The UKCC Level 1 qualification is for those who wish to assist a coach in coaching the techniques of the game and apply them to tactical play and the coaching of teams.  It is only suitable for those with experience of playing and/or coaching netball.  This course will run in March/April 2013 - Dates to be confirmed

020 - Tag Rugby (1 Day) 
This practically-based course is designed to help participants begin coaching within the non-contact version of the sport. Wednesday 30/01/2013 1pm-4pm

021 - Rugby Ready Course (3 hours) 
Everybody involved in coaching, refereeing and playing rugby needs a sense of safe practice.  This course is intended to raise awareness of good practice and provide guidance on putting appropriate safeguards in place to manage the inherent risks of the sport. Saturday 17/11/2012 10am-1pm
