Description

TEACH FIRST STUDY VISIT TO ESTONIA - FEBRUARY 2018

Detailed Description

WHY AN INTERNATIONAL STUDY VISIT?

  • To see other policies and practices and reflect on these
  • To reflect on our own practices in order to improve pupil learning
  • To learn from each other

WHY ESTONIA?

“A few on the many benefits of the Study Visit have been discussions from different perspectives, catching up with other MA teachers, and a chance to see and hear about leadership rather than read in new settings. It was interesting to note similarities in the way pupils learn despite cultural differences. The visit made me question and reflect on my own practice and put it into perspective.” - Teach First Student 2017

  • They seem to do better than us in terms of PISA e.g. 2015 Maths = 2nd in Europe and 9th in the World, Reading = 3rd in Europe and 6th in the World, Science = 1st in Europe and 3rd in the World
  • They have started a “Teach First” Programme
  • It is cost effective and a pleasant place to go over your half terM
